This page answers questions you may have about the process of buying cards.
Security: This is always an issue when purchasing something online. If you know me,
or if you've dealt with me, you know that I'm honest and trustworthy. Otherwise, have a
look at my
eBay profile
- I've been selling there for over six years. I'm a PowerSeller, and I have more than
three thousand positive unique feedbacks. My overall positive percentage is
99.5%, and the only negative feedbacks I've ever received were from pranksters or bad
buyers. I've never ripped anyone off, in over thirteen thousand sales. I've also made
hundreds of flawless trades with members of the community via the forums and have dozens
of unique references. I've been selling via RancoredElf.com since February 2005, with
complete satisfaction of thousands of customers. Lastly, when you pay with PayPal, you're
automatically covered by their "buyer protection program". I'm committed to making every
customer 100% happy, every time. If anything goes wrong, I'll fix it, guaranteed.
Privacy: I never see your payment information - PayPal sends me an email informing
me that you have paid, and gives me your shipping address. Your email address will never
be given out to anyone, and I do not send out spammy advertisements. Every few months I
send a short newsletter to those customers who have indicated they would like to receive
it.
Purchasing: Use the categories on the left to select a set to browse, or search for
individual cards by name using the search feature. Foil cards are set aside in their own
categories for each set. Use the "add to cart" button and select the number of each card
you want. When you've got everything you need, click "checkout" to be brought to a
summary of your purchase. You will be given a chance to make changes. If you do not have
an account, you will be asked to make one now. That just means entering your shipping
information (it should match the shipping information in your PayPal account) and a valid
email address where I can reach you to inform you of your order's status. You will then
be sent to PayPal where you securely transfer the payment.
PayPal is the primary payment method accepted. If I know you, I can accept cash, check, or
money order, but you have to talk to me about it first. If you don't have
PayPal, I encourage you to
sign up - it's completely free to join and use. If you don't want to (or can't) get
PayPal, but have a credit card, you can still purchase from my site! Simply place an
order, go to checkout as normal, and when PayPal asks you for your account and password,
you will instead provide it with your credit card information. It is secure (I never see
your credit information), fast, and there are no fees for you.
All prices on RancoredElf.com are in US dollars, although I am completely based in Canada.
Card Conditions: All cards from new sets (in the last few years) are fresh out of
the pack and unplayed. Pictures of these cards are samples only, to remind you what the
card looks like and help you find what you need. Some older cards are digitally
photographed, and the image you see is of the actual card. Cards not in NM or M condition
will display a condition grade.
- M - "Mint" cards are unplayed, fresh from the pack, and have no damage or printing
errors.
- NM - "Near Mint" cards show little or no wear or damage, may have been played
carefully in a sleeved deck, and many people can't tell the difference between them
and truly mint cards.
- EX - "Excellent" cards have only two or three minor imperfections, like worn
corners or nicked edges, and have most of the original surface gloss. Overall they look
great and could be played legally in a deck without sleeves.
- VG - "Very Good" cards show obvious handling like wear, scuffing, and possibly a
minor bend. Surface gloss is usually gone. You would need to play this card in
a sleeved deck.
- G - "Good" cards are well worn and usually have obvious imperfections. Creased,
warped, very dirty, or very scuffed cards are considered "good". There is no surface
gloss. I don't sell many "good" cards.
- F - "Fair" cards are heavily worn and have multiple obvious imperfections. They
might be playable in colored sleeves. It's not likely that I would sell any "fair"
cards.
- P - "Poor" cards are basically destroyed, and usually of no value. I don't sell any
"poor" cards.
Shipping: Shipping is free, to anywhere in the world, for every order above $20!
For smaller orders, a flat $3 shipping fee will automatically be added when you check out. Many sellers, on other
singles websites and on eBay, charge $5 or more for the first item, and $2 or more for
each additional item. That adds up fast! Many sellers and sites don't ship overseas,
either, or they charge a minimum of $25 for shipping! One thing I hate about buying cards
online is the shipping fees, so when I designed this site, I wanted a way for my buyers to avoid them
altogether.
Over the years I've become an expert on shipping cards quickly and accurately. Most North
American buyers will receive their cards in about a week, and often less than that!
Overseas buyers generally wait less than two weeks. If you require special shipping
methods, let me know before you make the purchase, and we'll work something out.
If you have any questions or concerns about your order after you've paid for it, feel
free to contact me any time. Please include the "order number" in your correspondence so I
can identify you and your purchase. You can find this number on your PayPal payment
receipt.
Yes, I Buy: I do buy individual cards, and entire collections. Please email me if
you've got something you want to sell.
Boosters and Boxes: No, I can't sell boosters or boxes of Magic cards. Selling
singles and only singles allows me to specialize and be the most efficient I can be. I
recommend StarCityGames.com as one of the most reliable and reasonably priced sources of
Magic boxes and boosters - there's a link in the left column of any page on this site.
Link to Me: Please help me get the word out about this site! If you have a site,
please check out this page
for the code of some buttons you can put on it - then let me know that you did so!
Guestbook: I've set up a guestbook (click the tab in the menu bar) for customers
to leave "feedback" comments. Even if you're just a guest, drop me a line, say hello, and
give me your comments about the site!
Thanks: A big "thank you" goes out to Jake Smith of
CabalCity.com and my best
friend Nathan Paziuk, the two talented programmers who built most of the original code for
this site. There's no way I could have done it without them! Thank you also to Nick
and David who are both currently working with me to upgrade and enhance everything
you see - and don't see!
