This page provides information about my website's service, and answers some frequently asked questions.
Purchasing: Use the categories on the left to select a set to browse, or search for
individual cards by name using the search feature. Foil cards are set aside in their own
categories for each set. There's a separate category for basic lands, as well as
miscellaneous items for sale. Use the "add to cart" button and select the number of each
card you want. When you've got everything you need, click "checkout" to be brought to a
summary of your purchase, where you can make changes. If you do not have a rancoredelf.com
account, you will be asked to make one now. That just means entering your shipping
information (which should match the shipping information in your PayPal account) and a
valid email address where I can reach you to inform you of your order's status. You will
then be sent to PayPal where you securely transfer the payment. I never see your credit
information, and there are no fees for you. I ship your order to the address given by
PayPal, so please ensure it is correct, or notify me in the comment section so I know
exactly where to ship to.
Currency: By default, all prices on RancoredElf.com are in US dollars, although I
am completely based in Canada. If you would like to pay in Canadian dollars, please use
the pulldown menu in the top-right-hand corner of the site.
Card Conditions: All cards from new sets (in the last few years) are fresh out of
the pack and unplayed. Pictures of these cards are samples only, to remind you what the
card looks like and help you find what you need. Some older cards are digitally
photographed, and the image you see is of the actual card. Cards not in NM or M condition
will display a condition grade.
- M - "Mint" cards are unplayed, fresh from the pack, and have no damage or printing
errors.
- NM - "Near Mint" cards show little or no wear or damage, may have been played
carefully in a sleeved deck, and many people can't tell the difference between them
and truly mint cards.
- EX - "Excellent" cards have only two or three minor imperfections, like worn
corners or nicked edges, and have most of the original surface gloss. Overall they look
great and could be played legally in a deck without sleeves.
- VG - "Very Good" cards show obvious handling like wear, scuffing, and possibly a
minor bend. Surface gloss is usually gone. You would need to play this card in
a sleeved deck.
- G - "Good" cards are well worn and usually have obvious imperfections. Creased,
warped, very dirty, or very scuffed cards are considered "good". There is no surface
gloss. I don't sell many "good" cards.
- F - "Fair" cards are heavily worn and have multiple obvious imperfections. They
might be playable in colored sleeves. It's not likely that I would sell any "fair"
cards.
- P - "Poor" cards are basically destroyed, and usually of no value. I don't sell any
"poor" cards.
Shipping: Shipping is free, to anywhere in the world, for every order above $20! For
smaller orders, a flat $3 shipping fee will automatically be added when you check out. Many
sellers, on other singles websites and on eBay, charge $4 or more for the first item, and
$2 or more for each additional item. That adds up fast! Many sellers and sites don't ship
overseas, or they charge a minimum of $25 for shipping! The only thing I hate about buying
cards online is the shipping cost, so when I designed this site, I wanted a way for my
buyers to avoid it altogether.
Over the years I've become an expert on shipping cards quickly and accurately. Most North
American buyers will receive their cards in about a week! Overseas buyers generally wait
less than two weeks. If you require special shipping methods, let me know before you make
the purchase, and we'll work something out. If you have any questions or concerns about
your order, feel free to contact me any time. Please include the order number in your
correspondence so I can identify you and your purchase. You can find this number on your
PayPal payment receipt.
Though my buyers get free shipping, I pay for the costs incurred such as packaging,
postage, and PayPal fees. To help me continue to provide you with free shipping, please try
to buy all the cards you know you'll need when you make an order. That way, you won't
have to make another order a few days later. Even if shipping is free for you, it's not
free for me, and PayPal and Canada Post continue to raise their prices. Thank you very much
for your understanding. I appreciate your business!
Security: This is always an issue when purchasing something online. If you know me, or if you've
dealt with me, you know that I'm honest and trustworthy. Otherwise, have a look at my
eBay profile
- I've been selling there for over eight years. I have more than four thousand positive
unique feedbacks, 100% positive. I've also made hundreds of flawless trades with
members of the MTGSalvation community via the forums. I've been selling via
RancoredElf.com since February 2005, with complete satisfaction of thousands of
customers. Lastly, when you pay with PayPal, you're automatically covered by their
"buyer protection program". I'm committed to making every customer 100% happy, every
time. If anything goes wrong, I'll work with you to fix it.
Privacy: I never see your payment information - PayPal sends me an email informing
me that you have paid, and gives me your shipping address. Your email address will never
be given out to anyone, and I do not send out spammy advertisements. Every few months I
send a short newsletter to those customers who have indicated they would like to receive
it.
Advertising: If you'd like to buy advertising on my site, sell me advertising on yours,
or trade mutual links, please email me.
Guestbook: I've set up a guestbook (click the tab in the menu bar) for customers
to leave "feedback" comments. Even if you're just a guest, drop me a line, say hello, and
give me your comments about the site!
Thanks: A huge "thank you" goes out to my very talented programmer, David, who works hard
to upgrade and enhance everything you see - and don't see!
FAQ
Can you mark my order as a gift and declare its value under $20?
I ship using plain white envelopes, not bubble mailers or packages, so there will be no customs
declaration sticker. This means you never pay customs fees or taxes, and never have to wait for
your order to clear at the border.
Can I pay with a credit card even if I don't have PayPal?
Yes you can! Just begin checkout as normal and the site will direct you how to proceed. The
payment will be collected BY PayPal, and will be sent to my PayPal account, but you don't need
to have an account. I don't see your credit card information at any time.
Why don't you sell every single common?
Commons (and a few uncommons) that I'm confident will never sell a single copy don't get
listed at all. I find they clutter up the site and are a waste of my time and yours. If you're
looking for a particular common or uncommon from a recent set that I didn't list, just email
me. I should be able to get it for you.
Do you buy?
Yes, I buy individual cards, and entire collections. I don't use a "buylist", so please email
me if you've got something you want to sell.
Where's my order?
Rarely, an order can be delayed a few days by postal holidays, weather systems, strikes, routing
errors, insufficient postage, or address mistakes such as a missing apartment number. Also,
sometimes I go out of town for a couple days, and catch up on shipping when I get back. If your
order is significantly late, please contact me and I'll look into it. Please remember to
include the order number with your email. Orders are almost never permanently lost, and even if
they were, I would work with you to resolve the problem.
Does 'processed' mean my cards are shipped?
When I gather your order together and put it into the envelope, I change the status to
'processed'. Since there is no 'shipped' option, yes, this basically means the cards are
shipped. Generally the cards are shipped on the next business day after the order is processed.
Do you have any ______?
I try and keep my inventory accurate. When I run out of a card, it won't reappear in my inventory,
unless I buy and open more boxes of the set it comes from. If you're looking for a particular
card that doesn't show up in my inventory, doesn't hurt to email me and ask.
Why can't I buy more than 8 of any one card?
Because I offer low prices and free shipping, it's possible for someone to purchase cards from me
and resell them elsewhere for a profit. While I have no problem with people profiting off my
policies, I do have a problem with one person cleaning me completely out of an item, because this
leaves nothing in stock for the collectors and players who use my site. If you require more than 8
of something, such as Relentless Rats or basic land, just email me and I'll take care of it for you.
Do you ship everywhere?
Yes, everywhere in the world. There are some trouble spots, but I will deal with those on a
case-by-case basis. For example, if your address is a cave in Pakistan, I may refund your payment
and delete your order. Countries like Italy and Brazil are notoriously hard to ship to, due to
corrupt or poorly run postal systems. Of all the orders that have gone missing before reaching the
buyer, over 70% were to Brazil and most of the rest were to Italy. Many sellers and sites refuse to
ship to those countries. I DO ship to both those countries, but I can't refund your payment if you
live in Italy or Brazil and your order doesn't arrive - order at your own risk. One option is to
use registered mail, but because of the problems with the mail system in those two counties, Canada
Post charges $45 to do so!
Do you sell boxes?
No, I don't sell boosters or boxes. Selling singles and only singles allows me to specialize and
be the most efficient I can be.
If you don't see your question here, please email me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
